Barbara Hepworth Quotes

"I rarely draw what I see. I draw what I feel in my body."

"In the contemplation of nature we are perpetually renewed, our sense of mystery and our imagination is kept alive, and rightly understood, it gives us the power to project into a plastic medium some universal or abstract vision of beauty."

DREAMY CUSTOM SOFAS & MAINE ARTISTS

We design elegant sofas and other furniture that fit the exact place where the pieces will shine. We find the right Maine artist or sculptor whose work will make all the difference in the place where you live your life, outside and inside.

We design small cottage-houses, contemporary and green that fit your land. We also offer landscaping.

DESIGN WORKS

We work with clients from Maine to South Carolina who are searching to connect the inner beauty and depth of their lives to their outward wanderings of daily life. Here are pieces from
our work
benches and design studios in Maine.  Everything is constructed
with quiet care and thought with how the person will be using the piece
and in return be nurtured by the energy of the handmade.
Please see the spaces these pieces were designed for.

HOUSES TO LOVE and REFURBISH

Enough building big houses, enough, enough. Nothing better than the history of the place, some soul, and a good builder. Non-architect architecture, hurrah!!!!  We have giclee prints of vanishing beach cottages, we cannot bear to let go of them completely. They have many stories to offer us.  We sell in sets of 4 in black and white. Please contact us for information on purchasing.

MESSAGES FROM THE SHELLS

Touching them
brings memories
of us all together
tumbling in the waves
and a knowing we
will be
again
for many

DRIVING DOWN THE ROADWAYS

Southern
live oaks
the north
mending
and
tying
fragments
of a life
together
snugly
and softly
every bit
as real
as
a bit of
hemp
twine
looped
around a
croker sack

The black tar lines on the Maine roads have intrigued and delighted me for years.
in the pavement making the roads whole and safe again.  There is also a similarity of Louise Nelvelson's line drawings of leaves to the tar and the limbs.  So I've painted my favorite pavement segments too, hoping to create something spiritually sublime or at least a little curious.
Spanish artist Eduardo Chillida from San Sebastian, Spain is a sculptor whose graphic works also remind me of the tar and the limbs.
